I’ve decided to share a section from a piece of writing that I’m working on, about a stream in the valley here, and about something that happened last June, when it stopped flowing, in a place near to the disused opencast and deep coal mines. Click under the image to go to the page:

It is about the unknown, and the difficulty and necessity of approaching it. It was partly written at the time, in my notebook and in the shock of what was happening – those parts I have transcribed and put into italics. It has partly been written since, as I try to live into what I am learning.
